Saint Luke's Parish Church

Serving the people of Kingstanding

Stations of the People

Serving the people of Kingstanding, is at the heart of Saint Luke’s mission.  We do this through our daily offering of the Mass, social events, community projects and our pastoral and support work in the neighbourhood.

It has been a Catholic tradition through the centuries to meditate on the Stations of the Cross.  The photographs and prayers displayed here represent our Stations of the People.  They are here to remind us to continually pray for each other, to give thanks for those who serve our community, and to journey with a deeper appreciation of what Christ did for us and all our brothers and sisters.

“We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you, because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world”

The photographs have been taken by Father Leonard Cox and the prayers have been written by Father Nathan Jarvis

Heavenly Father, we thank you for all your gifts to us, and especially for those who care for us when we are ill or in need of help.  We thank you for all doctors and nurses, for support staff, and for our Emergency Services.

Loving God, we thank you for all who work to keep our environment clean and healthy, for all those who do work which often goes unnoticed and unrewarded.  Help us to recognise all in our community of Kingstanding.

Gracious Lord, we thank you for our leisure time, the times with our friends, for laughter and fun, and for those who create places of relaxation and joy.

We pray for all who have gone to their heavenly rest and for those who mourn the loss of loved ones.  We thank those who care for the bereaved and comfort people in their hour of need.

We pray for the police and all support staff, for those who work hard to keep our streets safe.  We thank you for those who put others first and themselves last.

Dear Lord, we pray for our wider society, for all places of worship in Kingstanding and throughout Birmingham.  We pray for understanding and better ways of working together.

We say thank you for our green spaces, for areas of natural beauty where we can stand in awe at everything you have created.  We ask you to help us be better guardians of your wonderful creation.

We pray for those who are finding life difficult, for those who are journeying through stormy weather, for those who have lost all faith in themselves and in you

Lord, we ask for clam and for peace, when the pace of life seems too fast and frantic.  We ask you to make this a place of stillness, a place of tranquility and goodness.  Be with all who use this building for worship, recreation or work.

For all places of learning, for our schools, for our community spaces, and for centres of outreach.  We pray for our day centre and it's members, for it's staff and volunteers.

We pray for our children and young people, for all who are in any kind of need, especially those who feel alone and pressured by exams or difficult home situations, for our Brownie group and Sunday School.

For the whole of our community in Kingstanding, that we may grow together in mutual love and respect, serving the needs of our friends and neighbours.
